You might have read my recent report on Gigaom: OpenStack’s Inflection Point: What to Look for in 2015, comments welcome. Among the things I had correctly called out to watch for, here are some early updates from the OpenStack community on some of them:
1) Product Management
OpenStackPM Kilo Mid cycle meetup kickstarted the conversations on closing the gap between what customers want and where OpenStack is delivering right now. I think they are in the right direction. Between the workgroups focused on operators, enterprises and the OpenStack PM group, I believe the asks from customers are sought correctly.
2) Workloads
I called out the need for guidance to chose right workloads coming back from the HongKong summit. I also talked about some of the workloads in the Paris summit. More efforts are underway, and I’ll keep you posted on progress.
There are few more efforts, particularly around ISVs, but are still at very early stages. Overall, I am excited for OpenStack and its customers this year!
