Anthropic filed its S-1 last week, ahead of an IPO that could ease fears of an AI bubble or deepen them. The filing proves the growth. The profit is thin. Across the first half of 2026, Anthropic lost 8 cents for every dollar it spent on compute; in its one profitable quarter, it earned 18. The clouds that rent it that compute earn 57 to 71 cents per dollar of cost. We introduce a new metric, Operating Profit per Compute Dollar (OPCD), and set out what OpenAI should be asked to disclose when it files.
Anthropic’s public S-1 is out, and we scored CIIB-006 against it. Of our four calls, one was right outright, one is directionally supported, one missed, and the 60% postulate stays open. Cloud marketplaces carried 48% of first-half 2026 revenue, up four points year on year. The fees Anthropic pays its channel partners rose from about 8 cents per revenue dollar in full-year 2025 to about 17 cents in the first half of 2026.
